A Doctor in Lowryland

A few months after Dr Harry Harris opened his new practice at Rose Bank on Bolton Road in 1947, the NHS was born and Salford's health, besmirched by smog, cigs and poverty, was due to improve.

Dr Harris never knew Lowry but his patients came from the same streets that the famous painter documented, and which author Peter Harris brings back alive in an entertaining new book about his father and the old Salford backdrop.
